Do any of my readers know the classic Garbage song “Queer?” It was one of my favorites as a teenager and I got it stuck in my head for the title of this post. Hah!
This absolutely beautiful plus size button-up maxi dress from Proud Mary is so sheer and airy. I’m obsessed with it. I plan on wearing it with shorts and a tank top and my dr. martens later in the season when it warms up a bit. It can also be worn over a slipdress. On this cool spring day, I paired it with leggings, my quilted leather jacket and some ankle boots. I love how “Stevie Nicks” it feels – I just wanted to spin around in it.

Also you can see a little bit of my new thistle tattoo from stephanie at butterfat studios. It’s not finished yet, but I’m so in love – can’t wait to share more of it with y’all later this spring.
The dress was provided by Proud Mary for my review. The thoughts expressed here are my own.
Lace for spring, how groundbreaking!
Lace is about as floraly as I tend to get – and now that it’s finally warm enough in Chicago that I don’t have to wear a heavy coat constantly, well it’s time for this lace skirt.
I bought this skirt last year at Nordstrom Rack. I found it in the straight size section and figured I could probably wear it since it had an elastic waist. Well, I’ve gained a bit of weight since last year and what do you know, it STILL fits. I’m not sure what the intended fit shape is supposed to be, but I think it works as it is on me. Proof that it’s worth investigating straight size sections in any store!
Paired with some short booties and my always-present denim jacket, well here you go – a decent spring outfit.
What are you wearing for spring?

Thanksgiving Week
What a delight to have a few days away from work and to spend time with S and our baby dogs and our friends. We hosted a delicious vegetarian Thanksgiving feast and had so many beautiful friends over to our home. And after two days of cooking, I was totally pooped. So on Saturday, S and I decided to get out of the house and do a little bit of shopping and running around the neighborhood.
I couldn’t be bothered to get too dressed up as I am still full from all the thanksgiving food and leftovers. But this casual outfit features my new pair of favorite boots and I wanted to share with you all.
Check out my instagram for lots of photos of my friends and shopping!

Early Winter
Mentally I’m just not prepared for how early winter has seemed to hit the midwest this year. I’m trying to adjust, but honestly all I’m doing these days is listening to sad music and reading books and watching gilmore girls. I also bought a few LUSH gift baskets to enjoy over the new few weeks. I love the spicy winter scents like Hot Toddy and Lord of Misrule. What are you doing for self-care these days?
This skirt I’m wearing here is a bit of a departure from my usual looks, but I really love it. It’s got an elastic waist, pockets and that cool handkerchief hem. I paired it with leggings (well it is FREEZING outside) and my new Sam Edleman booties. My hair is a little crazy here I’m on the way to get it done today. It’s fun to try a slightly new/different look though.

Triangle Wedding at the Rothko Chapel, Houston TX
This weekend S and I attended the wedding of two amazingly beautiful and talented folks. The bride wore an avant garde gray/pink smoke pattern McQueen, the groom wore a skinny gray suit. They looked beautiful. And the ceremony was held at the Rothko Chapel – one of the loveliest spaces in Houston.
I knew that I needed to look really chic at this affair. S and I have been planning our outfits for months. I searched for months for the perfect necklace to wear – I debated getting a Zana Bayne harness, but after funds not allowing for it (and her being at fashion week the week I was going to order), I decided to look for something else. I searched on etsy and found this weird and beautiful brass body harness from seller LovMely. I showed it off on a simple ruched body-con dress from dorothy perkins. Basically I just wanted the necklace/harness to be the show stopper. And it was.
S wore a tailored slim-cut suit from H&M, Gucci shoes, patterned socks from Target. His body chain we found in the clearance bin of H&M, but it looks so weird and boutiquey.
