Pattern Mixing

Transitional dressing always presents a challenge for me. For one, I’m absolutely sick of all my winter clothes. One way I’ve been mixing things up quite literally is to really play a lot with pattern mixing. This adorable tiger-print circle skirt from Gwynnie Bee had the exact color match to my new WhoWhatWear for Target polka dot tee-shirt. I just want to pause for a moment and rave about how great it is that the WhoWhatWear line is for plus and straight sizes and I found my pieces along with the whole collection – not segregated to the plus size sad corner.

Of course I’ve been accessorizing everything lately with TONS of enamel pins. I am allll about the #pingame right now and my waxed denim moto jacket is a perfect place to display them all. All details for the pins are below.

Kinzie Corridor Art Show – Collage and Comics

Last night was my first gallery art show (see my digital collage work here).  Of course it was a thrilling thing to have happen in general, but I wanted to share my outfit with you all.  I needed something simple that would go from art show to a birthday party later in the evening.  And also I had to run errands all day before the show – so I needed something I could move around in easily.

Black Wool Jacket – Thrifted, sz 16
Green/Black leopard Shirt – Forever 21, sz 2XL
Black Jeans – Target, sz 18
Green Suede Shoes – Faryl Robin, sz 11
Necklace – Forever 21

Last days of the summer witch

The last few days of summer mean there won’t be many more opportunities to wear such outfits.  Since tonight is one of the monthly queer dance parties in Chicago, I just knew I had to get down with some summer witch.  Though believe me, I have some great layered ideas for this outfit for the fall.

Next week, I’m going to highlight some great transitional summer-to-fall outfits.
