Pattern Mixing

Transitional dressing always presents a challenge for me. For one, I’m absolutely sick of all my winter clothes. One way I’ve been mixing things up quite literally is to really play a lot with pattern mixing. This adorable tiger-print circle skirt from Gwynnie Bee had the exact color match to my new WhoWhatWear for Target polka dot tee-shirt. I just want to pause for a moment and rave about how great it is that the WhoWhatWear line is for plus and straight sizes and I found my pieces along with the whole collection – not segregated to the plus size sad corner.

Of course I’ve been accessorizing everything lately with TONS of enamel pins. I am allll about the #pingame right now and my waxed denim moto jacket is a perfect place to display them all. All details for the pins are below.

INTHETHICKOFIT – My Favorite Outfits of 2014

2014 was a pretty huge year for me.  I did a lot of PR work here and I got married in September and my side gig LastCraft took off (and was featured on the Huffington Post, Buzzfeed and Onion AV Club).

These were some of the most popular posts on my blog in the past year, and they also happen to be some of my favorite outfits

Thanks everyone for such an amazing year. What good things are in store for 2015?

Early Winter

Mentally I’m just not prepared for how early winter has seemed to hit the midwest this year. I’m trying to adjust, but honestly all I’m doing these days is listening to sad music and reading books and watching gilmore girls. I also bought a few LUSH gift baskets to enjoy over the new few weeks. I love the spicy winter scents like Hot Toddy and Lord of Misrule. What are you doing for self-care these days?

This skirt I’m wearing here is a bit of a departure from my usual looks, but I really love it. It’s got an elastic waist, pockets and that cool handkerchief hem. I paired it with leggings (well it is FREEZING outside) and my new Sam Edleman booties.  My hair is a little crazy here I’m on the way to get it done today. It’s fun to try a slightly new/different look though.

Plus Size Moto Jackets for Fall

A reader wrote in to ask if there were good places to buy plus size moto jackets. ABSOLUTELY! There are some great options especially right now – tis the seasons for a beautiful leather or faux leather jacket.  These are some of my favorites and they range from $40-$200 and sizes 18-24.  There are lots of options, but here is a good starting point!

See the full details from the image above and where to buy at my polyvore (or click the jacket image above)

My outfit above includes my favorite waxed denim moto from H&M last year along with a dress from Gwynnie Bee

I promise a full outfit post after the weekend – Hope you enjoy shopping for your fall jackets! Let me know what you’re buying on my facebook page

Weekend Geometry

My weekends have been so busy lately (my life actually has been crazy!). I feel like I can’t really ever get caught up on all the things i have going on.

While out last night visiting the super cool Space Oddities shop and dropping off some new LastCraft candles and tarot decks for them,  I had an amazing tarot reading by Sarah Lorraine aka esoteriaofone. One of the biggest take-aways for me from the reading was that I need to CHILL.  So part of this weekend is me just taking some time for myself to refocus.

What do you like to do to engage in self-care? I like to turn off my electronic devices, read, take baths (I’m obsessed with LUSH products) and just sit and think. I have a lot to think about with my 35th birthday in a week and my wedding in about a month!

I’ve been very thankful for my Gwynnie Bee account lately as it provides me with lots of pretty clothes without me having to deal with finding the time for shopping.  This gorgeous geometric print dress is so much fun to wear on a summer day.  It’s a little on the short side, and I would wear leggings with it if I were out for the day. If you’re not a member of gwynnie bee yet – really I can’t recommend it more highly! It’s free the first month and they keep adding more and more unique brands. Feel free to use my link to join if you’ve been on the fence, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Print dresses

My instagram followers already got a little teaser photo of this gorgeous print dress by Postcards I got last week via Gwynnie Bee.  I just love the bold print of this dress – but my favorite part is the little asymmetrical ruffle in the front I have deemed the “fupa flap” – hah!

I just love this easy-breezy dress.  It’s super lightweight and you can really just throw it on and have an outfit.  In the future I’ll add a braided belt and some killer shoes.  As it was, I was hanging out in the backyard with my dogs and putting my toes in the grass.

Gwynnie Bee the “netflix” for plus size clothes

I’ve raved about Gwynnie Bee all over my fb and instagram, but I had to show you what it’s all about!

I was wary at first – I didn’t think they had a really well-rounded selection and items seemed not really my style.  However, as they’ve grown and expanded, I am happy to report that I just absolutely love them.

I do the 3-items-at-a-time option which is perfect for my needs.  A lot of my work wear has been gwynniebee and I’ve already purchased two of the items I’ve received (you have the option to buy items for much less than retail and they usually offer additional discounts and sales too!)

This is a Jessica Simpson cap sleeve floral print dress.  It’s super cute and fits so well.  I paired it with some tights and my go-to waxed denim moto jacket from H&M. Perfect for spring!

If you haven’t already checked out the month-free trial of Gwynnie Bee, I would love to encourage you to try!  Referral link here*.
