It’s all about the Boots

Really there is nothing better than a statement boot this fall. I fell in love with this suede pair from Simply Be – the gorgeous bohemian-inspired embroidery in such bright colors. Perfect height for me – easy enough to walk around in and they just enhance a pair of jeans or leggings. I paired with a simple pair of “boyfriend” jeans, a waxed denim moto, a luxe but simple shirt and my favorite oversized scarf. A great look for any chilly fall day.

Embroidered Ankle Boots – (available up to size 11) from Simply Be
Catherine Jeans – Kut from Kloth
Black V-Rex T – Universal standard
Waxed Denim Moto – H&M+ (from many years ago sadly)
Lots of pins from some of my favorite makers like Robin Eisenberg and Sara M Lyons

Wide Calf Boots Y’all!

How excited am I to finally find a pair of knee-high boots that REALLY fit my calves? BEYOND THRILLED. These beautiful leather boots are from Ted & Muffy – a UK boot brand that offers CUSTOM calf sizes on their boots. Additionally they offer sizing up to US 12 and wide shoe widths as well. I am so excited to see so many options for folks of all sizes.

It’s been so long since I’ve had a pair of wide calf boots that was big enough to wear OVER a pair of jeans, that I just had to try this Demeter Boot with a pair of skinny jeans. Weekends are made for a casual look of skinny jeans, boots and an oversized top. But this style of boot could be dressed up quite well too – I love the versatility.

Almost Wedding Photos

Some of y’all may know that I’m getting married in Houston this weekend – omg! I’m really excited to share little bits of that day with everyone, but wanted to show off this cool pre-wedding  shoot that we did.  S and I wanted stark/graphic outfits to go along with the amazing public art in Houston. I added pops of color like the belt and bracelet. These photos by RS Photography turned out perfectly!

The Specs the Specs the Specs…

As you can see from the bottom photo, 1) I am a giant nerd and this photo from 1991 is proof of that and 2) I really love glasses.

I haven’t always worn glasses full-time, but i’ve almost always needed some visual aid since I was in 1st grade.  There was a period in my life when i transitioned to contacts, but at some point in the past 5 years – my eyes did something strange and I had to switch to full-time glasses wearing.

Since I have an accessory on my face all the time, I’ve made it a point to get lots of different styles of frames so I can really use my glasses to change up my look. I’ve noticed that my beauty routine and outfits really change depending on what I’m wearing.  As an example, sometimes I wear darker eye makeup when i’m wearing my lighter frames so that people can notice it a little more.

All the glasses above are from SEE Eyewear and are from the past 5 years.

For those of you that wear glasses – do you have a favorite pair?  do you have a large selection? what designers do you like?
